About Me

Hello, I’m Brandon Vaughan, the owner of this page. I graduated in 2013 from the Univeristy of South Carolina (upstate campus) with a Bachelor in Science. I majored in experimental psychology and minored in philosophy. In May of 2018 I graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina with a Master’s degree in biomedical science, where I studied neuroscience under the guidance of Dr. Jane Joseph. Throughout college I had a strong interest in the philosophy of science and philosophy of mind. In particular I am interested in the practical implications of different philosophies on scientific practice and how that might be useful for clarifying methodological or interpretive debates in psychology and neuroscience. In my time at MUSC I recognized the vital importance of statistics in neuroscience, not only in interpreting data but in processing the noisy, messy information from neuroimaging experiments into usable data. Currently my main academic interest is in the application of Bayesian statistics to the wonderfully messy world of real data.
